Trusting God in Hard Times: Do You Know Who You’re Marching Into Battle With?

Have you ever felt God calling you to do something… and you just couldn’t seem to move forward? Maybe you’ve dragged your feet, hesitated, made excuses; not because you didn’t want to obey, but because deep down, you doubted yourself.
We’ve all been there. But what if the problem isn’t you? What if it’s just that you’ve forgotten who’s going with you?
When we’re walking through seasons of doubt or fear, trusting God in hard times can feel impossible. But this is exactly where Scripture speaks so clearly.
Let’s go back to the story of Moses in the book of Exodus. God calls him to lead the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt. Which is a massive miraculous mission. But Moses’ response? He basically said, “God, are you sure about this?” Not once. Not twice. Five times.
He doubted himself. He made excuse after excuse. He didn’t know who he was marching into battle with.
Then there’s David. A young shepherd boy. Overlooked by his family. On paper, the last person you’d choose to fight a giant. But David didn’t shrink back. Why? Because he knew who was with him.
Look what David said before he faced Goliath:
“The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.”— 1 Samuel 17:37
David wasn’t confident in his own strength. He was confident in God’s. That’s what trusting God in hard times looks like.
When we know who we’re marching into battle with, we move differently.
We pray differently. We lead, parent, serve, and step forward in faith, not because we’re enough, but because we’re not alone.
So the next time God calls you to something that feels too big, too risky, or just plain scary, remember this:
You’re not stepping out solo. You are marching into battle with the Almighty God.
